In the Society, Officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It’s hardly any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one… until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path no one else has ever dared follow — between perfection and passion.

What a fantastic book! It bordered on becoming scary and dangerous, but kept barely on the safer side of things. (thank heavens for it not being the stomach-acheish-how-horrid-are-things-about-to-get Hunger Game like stress!) Teenage angst has clearly not been eradicated like many of the old diseases have. The world of the future has such subtle dangers and punishments, you may not recognize them til they've happened to you. (they are watching you...) Cassia is so likable and honest, Xander is the perfect guy and Ky is a dream come true- or is he too dangerous to befriend? The supporting characters were such a vital part of the story and each of their lives were intertwined. I'm soooooo looking forward to Cassia's adventures continuing in CROSSED. Finished the book with a wow!

Well written and suspenseful. I imagine there are all kinds of themes and things to study in this book. It makes you think, but it must not be my kind of book. I really disliked the story. I liked all the characters. I thought it was interesting and clever, but it made me angry. I think a lot of people will like it. But I hate stories where the nice guy has to finish last, even if the other guy is nice too.
